Grupul Anonymous a devenit cunoscut după ce a comis numeroase atacuri informatice în întreaga lume. În august, membrii săi au piratat site-ul Ministerului sirian al Apărării, în semn de protest faţă de reprimarea mişcării de contestare a regimului lui Bashar al-Assad. În decembrie, grupul a revendicat atacul asupra site-ului agenţiei de analiză Stratfor, de la care a obţinut e-mailuri şi date ale cardurilor de credit aparţinând unor clienţi ai acesteia.

„Salutări, poporule român. Noi suntem Anonymous”, începe mesajul audio al grupului, suprapus peste imagini video cu protestele din România.

„V-aţi alăturat în cele din urmă luptei mondiale pentru o viaţă mai bună. După 22 de ani de furt, minciuni şi manipulări, comise de guvernanţii voştri şi de presă, vocea voastră se aude încă o dată pe străzile oraşelor voastre”, continuă mesajul, avertizând însă că înlăturarea de la putere a unei singure persoane şi alegerea alteia în loc nu va rezolva problemele, ci doar va continua „circul politic”.

„Trebuie să recunoaşteţi că toată clasa voastră politică este coruptă şi nu serveşte interesului poporului aşa cum ar trebui”, continuă mesajul, care se încheie cu o încurajare pentru români, de a nu-şi pierde speranţa şi cu îndemnul „Treziţi-vă!”.
